Timothy George

B.Eng Hons (Minerals Engineering)

Following graduation from Leeds University, Tim joined Anglo American and De Beers in 1986 and spent a decade in production management in gold, coal and diamond processing plants, being involved in the implementation of several new expansion and retrofit projects. He also served in the Chairman's Office where he was responsible for the special projects under the AAC group's corporate social responsibility program. In 1997 Tim moved to business development in then AAC subsidiary LTA, working on commercial and financial arrangements for numerous initiatives including concession, mining and infrastructure projects. In 2004 Tim was appointed Chairman and CEO of Xceldiam, a diamond exploration company with its main interests in Angola. He is a founder and director of The Elgin Distilling Company, a producer of "terroir spirit" in Elgin in joint venture with Paul Cluver Wine Estates and has an interest in the Stanford Valley farm and conference centre which is based on ecologically sustainable principles. Tim is currently Chairman of IGE Resources AB, an Oslo listed resources company with assets in Scandinavia, South Africa, Kenya, DRC and Angola.
